Description
We read this story in Spanish class called Marianela.
Don't read it if you can.
It's basically about this not-so-pretty 16 year old girl who loves this 20-something blind boy (named Pablo) but she is from a lower class and he thinks he loves this generous and gorgeous girl (named Florentina) and proposes to her.
SPOILER: Marianela tries to commit suicide, gets saved, hides from Pablo (because of her looks), when she sees him, he thinks she's just a poor girl. She kisses him 3 times on the hand and dies of a broken heart the third time.
Yeah, i guess it can be viewed as a sort of endearing story or something, but i thought it was too melodramatic and angsty. Gag.
So my friend and i made fun of this story and i drew her some pictures and we wrote an alternate version where she and him get together at the end and he loves her.
Copyright Benito Pérez Galdós
He wrote it in 1878 so i guess that compensates for the sad-ish ending.
